Zoltan Asztalos, M.D. is a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy with extensive clinical experience in the treatment of complex mental health disorders. His therapeutic focus lies on evidence-based psychotherapy—particularly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)—as well as modern integrative treatment approaches such as ketamine-assisted psychotherapy.

Born in 1983 in Kemecse, Hungary, Zoltan Asztalos, M.D. studied medicine at the University of Debrecen, where he also completed his specialist training in psychiatry and psychotherapy. In 2013, he successfully passed his board certification through the National Examination Committee in Budapest. In parallel, he advanced his psychotherapeutic training in CBT and obtained certification from the European Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies (EABCT) in London in 2014.

His professional career includes positions at several renowned psychiatric institutions in Hungary and Germany. During his time at the University Hospital of Debrecen, he gained broad clinical experience in general psychiatry, addiction medicine, psychosomatic medicine, geriatric psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, and neurology.

From 2014 onwards, Zoltan Asztalos, M.D. worked at the Psychiatric Hospital Mainkofen in Germany—initially as a specialist physician and later as a senior consultant. There, he assumed leadership responsibilities on private and specialised wards focusing on affective disorders, particularly treatment-resistant depression. A significant milestone of his clinical work was his involvement in the development and implementation of innovative therapeutic procedures, including Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and ketamine-assisted treatment approaches.

From 2022 to 2024, Zoltan Asztalos, M.D. served as Medical Director at the Haselbach Specialist Clinic of Caritas Regensburg. In 2022, he also founded the project “Tempel der Seele” (“Temple of the Soul”), dedicated to supporting psychological healing processes through holistic, individualised, and collaborative approaches. Since 2024, he has additionally been offering structured online therapy programmes to provide accessible psychotherapeutic support independent of location.

Since September 2025, Zoltan Asztalos, M.D. has been working as a Consultant Physician at Medicare Clinics in Debrecen, Hungary. Since October 2025, he has also been serving as a Consultant Physician at PSI Pain Clinic in Budapest, Hungary, where he is particularly committed to the development and responsible integration of substance-assisted psychotherapy and modern psychiatric treatment concepts.

In May 2026, Zoltan Asztalos, M.D. became co-founder of the “Gesellschaft für integrative Therapie e.V.” (“Society for Integrative Therapy”), with the aim of promoting interdisciplinary, evidence-based, and integrative approaches in mental health care and psychotherapy.

Also in May 2026, he became co-founder of the “Hungarian Psychedelic Society”, supporting professional dialogue, scientific exchange, and responsible education in the field of psychedelic-assisted therapies in Hungary.

Today, Zoltan Asztalos, M.D. combines classical psychiatric and psychotherapeutic expertise with modern neurobiological and substance-assisted therapeutic approaches. His therapeutic philosophy is guided by scientific precision, ethical responsibility, and a deep respect for each individual’s personal life story. The aim of his work is to facilitate sustainable change—especially in situations where conventional treatment approaches reach their limits.
